3CX - How to Use Hot Desking

Hot-Desking allows for a single 3CX phone to be utilized by multiple users, one at a time. Only phones that are purposely set up for this purpose are able to utilize this feature. Below are instructions on how to sign in/out of a hot desk phone and allow you to send/receive calls.

Requirements:
  1. Access to a Hot Desking-specific phone.
  2. Voicemail PIN for your extension
  3. 3CX User Account with Hot Desking enabled. Contact AvailIT if you are unsure. 
Instructions:
  1. Ensure no one else is currently signed into the phone. If someone is, follow the instructions in Step 4.
  2. To sign into the phone, dial *77*[Extension Number]* (ex: *77*123*). You will hear a prompt respond and ask for your voicemail PIN number.
  3. Enter your Voicemail PIN using the number pad. Once done, you will hear a confirmation and the device will configure itself for your extension. This may take a few minutes.
  4. To log out from the Hot Desk phone, press the first BLF button on the screen to sign out. Alternatively, you may dial the code *77*5* to log out.
